Thank youu for this. But what about beginner writers like me who have no success stories to share.

How do we then promote our work?

Learned about you from a mention in another Substack. Glad I clicked and I'm looking forward to learning more. My recent wins are: a stranger I spoke to about my writing whipped out their phone and became a paid subscriber. I shared my link with a small group I know and one person became a paid subscriber. Someone in my town asked me if I would be interested in writing a dating advice column for our paper. All of this warmed my heart.

Great interview and I'll be tuning in for more. Thanks Kristina!

My win - got another paid subscriber yesterday who left an awesome quote about my writing.

You’re so right we need to hype ourselves. I really have been enjoying your posts!

Hi Danita, that's awesome!! I love when paid subs leave a note. This really boots my confidence and motivation. Our LIVE with Ayo is tomorrow!!

I've been boosted six times on medium since starting in Feb this year. I think that's pretty cool 😁

AWESOME! Do you have some links or even screenshots of your backend I could use for a story or my guide?

“I inspire others by sharing my growth stories in public”

This is the first time where someone told me to promote myself in a way that feels truly neutral in the “sales” way. I’m sharing because I’m legitimately excited about knowing more and more people are reading my work. It’s truly magical!

I's magical, Taylor. Check your visits. Isn't it awesome that people click our stories and read them!! Our live with Ayo will be tomorrow!

Before I shout, just letting you know that I recently started publishing (and even writing!).

My big win would be writing continuously for weeks now!

Getting a few words down on Substack, preparing my documents, brainstorming and actually writing.

My 10th issue comes out in 2 days.

I know it's not a big deal, but I tried to start writing for 3 years, before this happened!

I LIKE IT!

Thanks for mentioning my comment. I just restacked your post with a note about my latest win: high praise for my “Nature + Nurture”ebook (https://wendigordon.gumroad.com/l/mdryi ).

I

was ecstatic to read health writer Maggie Aime’s recent description of it:

“It’s a beautiful piece of work that combines Wendi’s gorgeous nature photos (she’s a skilled photographer, too!!) with wisdom inspired by the great outdoors.

… A bold reminder to shed that suffocating mold of conformity. Chase authenticity. Let your true, unapologetic self shine, quirks and all ('cause we all have them).

… So, join me, and let's show Wendi some love and support for her groundbreaking work. It’s that good!

I’m a fan! Bravo, Wendi!”

I am lousy at hyping myself Kristina but I do agree, advocating for ourselves is the most powerful thing we can do.

PS I fixed the "mention" feature. Thank you for mentioning me here.

BTW I was boosted 2 more times since that print screen lol.

Freaking #10 (This is me hyping myself)

Have a good week.

Great article and thanks for being so brutally honest 👍... sometimes we need that kick from someone else 😀... I am still in the learning process but thankfully I met you here... my recent win 2 new paid subscribers 🎊🎉

That kick is indeed necessary!

I recently generated a total of 100 subscribers via recommendations on Substack. For someone like me who was afraid to share her story with the world fearing judgement of strangers, I am really proud of myself for silencing the noise and believing in myself. It's crazy how much things change when you are your biggest cheerleader.

I see you, seeing me! Okay, I'm rising to your invitation! In the last week, I have two new paid subscribers (bless!) and a new paying coaching client who found me through Substack! I'm celebrating this! 🍾

You are truly motivational Kristina, so here goes! Six days after launching my newsletter I have 10 subscribers and 2 days after releasing my first medium article I have 24 claps

It's so true! Hate the self promotion but this is a good reminder. I just hit 50 paid subscribers and have been on Substack for four months! I haven't paywalled anything so this feels like a win?!
